Escalate: “To increase rapidly, to make something more serious or greater. A statement of intent, a reflection of everything around us.”
Glasgow’s VLURE have announced their debut album Escalate to be released via Music For Nations on 26 September. Co-produced by guitarist Conor Goldie and Manni Dee (Daniel Avery & HAAi) and with features from Bobby Gillespie, PSweatpants and Gaïa, Escalate is a 13 track collection that is the proudly, loudly, avowedly now sound of VLURE’s hometown, the thrills and spills of Glasgow.
New single ‘Feels Like Heaven’ arrives with its accompanying video directed by Paris Seawell. A nod to early rave era sampling, big trance and techno sound design, it sits at the heart of the album and perfectly summarises the themes which run throughout Escalate. Frontman and lyricist Hamish Hutcheson explains:
“It’s about hope, love and life. I hope it has a different meaning for each listener; for me it’s about finding the right person at the right time. Someone that makes you feel whole and makes life better, even on the days where nothing is going your way.”
With Escalate, VLURE have made a body of work which, at its core is an album about coming of age, friendship and finding oneself.
“It’s for Glasgow. It’s for you, and your mates. It’s for every mad night and every moment when time stood still. Hold it close. Let it escalate.”
