Limerick Limerick newcomers THEATRE announce their signing to BMG / Echo and share debut single ‘The Fall‘.
Emerging from the shadows of Ireland’s explosive music scene, the five-piece, made up of Dara Gooney, Oscar Halpin, Gerry Sheil and Sean Storan, have whipped up a storm of excitement through gorgeous, emotive melodies and the stunning vocals of lead singer, Maeve O’Shea. Blending ethereal rock music with folk and shoegaze, the music is understated yet feels timeless, and their songs seem to enter your body, trance-like, and never leave. Now breaking their silence and releasing their first single ‘The Fall’, the quintet will be capitalising on early slots with English Teacher, Shame and Westside Cowboy by embarking on a support run alongside Bleech 9:3 in May, before a summer on the festival circuit including The Great Escape plus the reveal of further new music ready to share imminently.
Detailing the origins of their first release, THEATRE explained:
“’The Fall’ tells the story of a broken friendship, a changeling like person, and the torment that comes with loving someone as toxic as that. Writing the song was the light at the end of the tunnel of a very dark time. Not only was it the first song that people took notice of and that propelled us into gigging full time, it also was the first song that had a fully fleshed theme and story, and it was the first time we realised that a song could metamorphose a negative experience into art.”
