Leeds post-punks The 113 have announced their new EP The Hedonist set for release on 17 April via Launchpad+ in partnership with EMI North. Alongside the news, the band have shared new single ‘Scour’ and confirmed a major run of EU and UK headline dates for spring 2026.
Dynamic, visceral, and packed with unbridled energy, the intent behind ‘Scour’ is clear from the outset. A devastating collision of punchy fuzz-saturated bass, jagged guitar hooks and pounding drums, the track surges forward with a simmering menace, rarely allowing the tension to dissipate. Written on a Friday night and recorded the following day, ‘Scour’ captures a moment of instinctive urgency. The track came together rapidly in the studio, immediately distinguishing itself from the rest of the project. “It sounded full because it sounded different to the rest of the record,” frontman Jack Grant explains. “It sounds more atmospheric and dramatic, but still has the repetitive element that makes it The 113.”
Building on lyrical themes first explored in previous single ‘Leach’, the track reads like an inventory of modern anxieties, voicing concern over the potential permanence of our digital footprints. “It’s almost a list of things that creep me out.” Jack elaborates.“Our entire communication history is kept and stored for years. Things like ‘Find My Friends’, and recordings on personal CCTV and ring cameras of embarrassing moments that are now permanent. It’s all quite creepy really.”
Forthcoming EP The Hedonist comprises four tracks centred on our collective relationship to technology, and the psychological burden that comes with the constant connectivity of modern life. Recorded at Eiger Studios in Leeds with producer Dom Richmond at the helm, whose collaborative approach helped shape the sessions, the record was mixed by Daniel Fox of Gilla Band. Instinctively understanding what Dom and the band were striving for, Fox brought it into clear focus; striking a balance between gritty and polished, and ultimately bringing the songs to life.
To celebrate the release of The Hedonist, The 113 will embark on a major EU and UK tour throughout April and May 2026.
