The dreamy bubblegrunge 5-piece Puppy Teeth have announced their debut EP Teething set for release on 2 October. While the title seems fitting for their band name, it also represents the evolution of the band itself. Comprising two of their oldest and two of their newest songs, they are putting themselves out there, coming in sharp and loud, demonstrating this is just the beginning. The Edinburgh based German/Scottish/English band are excited to release their first body of work into the world.

Teething was written by front-woman Anna Trost, produced and recorded by Puppy Teeth’s own Ed Meltzer (Bass) and mastered by award winning mastering engineer Pete Maher (the 1975, Lana Del Rey, Katy Perry, the Rolling Stones, The Killers). The EP was recorded at Pocketsounds, their Bassist’s Studio in Edinburgh, Granton (Cowboy Hunters, Curiosity shop, Dinosaur94), formerly Chamber Studio (Biffy Clyro, Bastille, Snow Patrol, Mogwai, The Vaselines, Amy MacDonald). During the recording process the studio moved from one space into another within the complex, so all drums were recorded in the old space with everything else being added in the new space. Some parts of the vocal production and effects are influenced by bands such as NewDad and Sorry. Puppy Teeth love their vocal sound leaning more into Pop production over Alternative Instrumentation (Doublers, reverse reverb, ping pong delays, distortions, octave pitches) and try to bring similar effects to certain parts where they fit well, subtle changes that stand out at the same time for detailed listeners. In terms of arrangement Puppy Teeth tried to stay true to their 90s orientated washy grungy/shoegaze sound with bubble pop influences, aka Bubblegrunge.
For Teething Puppy Teeth added Flute (Anna Trost) and Cello (Graham Coe) to their usual Instrumentation.
