Porto’s Post Punk Strikes Back Again (PPSBA) festival returns for its seventh edition with significant changes that promise to redefine the audience experience. The event will take place on 27, 28 and 29 November, featuring a new stage and a more intimate atmosphere.
In a move to reconnect with the roots of the underground movement, the festival leaves the Hard Club and moves to the historic CCOP Auditorium. This change of venue to a more intimate and classic space in the city centre aims to provide a superior aesthetic and acoustic environment, ideal for the dark and immersive sounds of Post-Punk and Coldwave.
Friday 27 November
The festival opens with the return of a legendary figure in alternative music. The highlight of the day is David J (UK), a founding member of the historic Bauhaus and Love and Rockets, in an unforgettable performance accompanied by a special guest. The energy of EBM/Coldwave from the German Die Selektion, the raw sound of the Dutch Desinteresse, and the infectious post-punk from the Australians Kosmetika complete the day.
Saturday 28 November
The second day intensifies with the return of the Test Department (UK), pioneers of British industrial and experimental music. The day’s lineup is complete with contemporary gothic vibes of Mouth Ulcers (UK), the urgency of Bloody/Bath (UK), the frenetic energy of Test Plan (UK), and the national act Ecos Tardios (PT), who break a long hiatus for a special performance at home.
Sunday 29 November
The grand closing celebration brings to the CCOP stage the iconic The Wolfgang Press (UK), a historic name from the legendary 4AD publishing house. To wrap up the festival in style, the day also features the dark synthwave of the Turks Ductape, the raw power of Yard (IRL), the post-punk energy of Egyptian Blue (UK), and the raw attitude of Irelands Slyrydes.
