Newcastle’s Parastatic announce new album the Brutalist architecture inspired Concrete Reborn and share new single ‘With Intent’. The album is set for release on 21 February and was produced by Sam Grant of Pigs x 7/Rubber Oh. Parastatic are three friends from the North East of England with a love for Krautrock, shoegaze and post-rock music. They first got together in 2010 and have sporadically released music that fuses motorik grooves with thumping synths and magical guitar sounds. Concrete Reborn features the addition of a spoken word performance from Valencia-born, Newcastle-based artist, Late Girl. Having spent a year as artist in residence at the Glasshouse International Centre for Music, Late Girl contributed their spoken word performance across the album which is sometimes haunting, other times ferocious and always intriguing. As well as enlisting the talents of Late Girl, 2023 saw original drummer Jonnie Halling return to the band after 10 years playing with The Angelic Upstarts.

“This track just builds and builds from minimalist beginnings to a real krauty disco stomp with Late Girl bringing tons of energy with her vocal performance and our guitarists Jon and Neil adding loads of layers of melody over each other. Ultimately this track has a really positive sentiment – that the Brutalist architects believed their designs and buildings really were a force for good.”
