Oedipus & The Mama’s Boys return with their latest single ‘Blood On The Sand’. The track is a brilliant amalgamation of post-rock, noise, folk and psychedelia from the blossoming Edinburgh-based eight-piece who are building a formidable early reputation with their ambitious and no-holds-barred live shows.
The band speak ahead of the release of the single:
“This song was the song written to return to. To bring us into our new home, where each member took their own part and set it alight. This song feels like, and in many ways is, the beginning of where we are, and where we know we can go. It’s been played for over a year, and is everything that is beautiful and bright burning about our music. Taking direct inspiration from the Greek tragedy, Oedipus Rex by Sophocles.”
The song follows the epic ‘A Daisy For You, John’. This wild, seven-minute epic caught the ear of So Young, Still Listening, The Skinny, Boot Music, Tenement TV and more.
Oedipus & The Mama’s Boys recently headlined Glasgow’s King Tuts for the first time, as well as The Elephants Head in Camden and Sneaky Pete’s in Edinburgh, whilst they also performed at Kelburn Garden Party. They’ve supported Hotel Lux, Joe & the Shit Boys, Legss and Heavyskint.
