Belfast’s Midnight Housework, have released their 3rd single ‘Red Party Cups’. The ambient alternative/indie rock band band draw their inspiration from ambient and instrumental artists such as Mk.Gee, The War On Drugs and American Football. Their music and aesthetic also stems from cult classic movies and the very effects pedals in front of them. Comprising of members from Belfast’s thriving music scene, the bands seasoned line-up have been developing their sound, combining ambient, glassy math rock sounds with nostalgic chord progressions and vocal melodies that aim to capture both ears and imaginations. Their songs take listeners through an immersive sonic journey that dances between cathartic loudness and a tranquil silence.
‘Red Party Cups’ is dark, moody and intense, providing the listener with a song to lose themselves in. The soaring build is layer upon layer of vocals and instrumentation, the guitar and drums creating an ever increasing power to the track before it was to come to its inevitable end.
