Coming ahead of a run of live shows this month, including headlines in Portsmouth and London, techno psych quartet LIPWORMS return with the sludgy techno odyssey of new single ‘Worm 101’, out now via Strong Island Recordings (Ugly, Los Bitchos, Ugly Ozo). Grounded in grotesque lyrical imagery and suffocating electronic abrasion, LIPWORMS sordid sonic landscapes are as nightmarish as they are gleefully immersive. Marrying heavy beats, psychedelic clangour, and a heavily processed vocal that sounds mired in the swamps and destined for doom, the band bring the experiments of their home loft studio right into the impulsive subversions of a dystopian clubland.

Forged in Portsmouth in the summer heat of 2023, the quartet launched the acclaimed Slow Dance compilation in 2024 with debut single ‘handshake’, and followed up last July with ‘Teeth’. Gigging their loud and neuron-frying live show across the UK and beyond in recent months, the band have shared stages with numerous with international acts such as YHWH Nailgun Unknown Mortal Orchestra, TEKE::TEKE, and Ata Kak, as well homegrown bands such as Adult DVD, MORN and wing!
