Brazilian punk-rocker Karen Dió has today released her second EP Fugaz via Hopeless Records. The release follows the viral success of early singles including ‘Sick Ride,’ a run of shows with acts including Limp Bizkit, Sum 41 and Garbage and includes the previously released single ‘Free Yourself’.
Speaking about the EP, Dió explains:
“The word “fugaz” is Portuguese for fleeting, brief, transient or short-lived. Life itself is “fugaz,” it goes really fast and changes all the time. This EP is about me dealing with that in the last couple of years. All the fast changes that have happened to my life, my body, my career and the world around me. A reminder to myself that life is not about what is about to happen, but what is happening right now because that’s all we have.”
Fugaz Tracklist
‘Euphoria’
‘Free Yourself’
‘Choke’
‘Crawling’
‘Rat Race’
‘Fugaz’
To mark the release of Fugaz, Karen Dió will hit the road on her first UK headline tour this September.
Accompanying the EP release is new single ‘Choke’. Continuing to speak about the track, Dió shares:
“I believe that my best revenge when people talk shit about me is to let them be themselves, show their real faces and bite their own tongue, while I continue just doing my own thing, writing bangers.”
Backed by Hopeless Records, Dió is also determined to shine a light on Brazil’s punk rock community on a global scale. For her, representing her Latin roots isn’t a talking point, it’s a responsibility.
“If I can open that door for Latin American artists, then I’ve accomplished my goal,” she says.
