Gilla Band, Ireland’s favourite Avant-punk quartet have re-issued The Early Years EP, a collection of out of print 7” singles and covers originally released on Any Other City Records and The Quarter Inch Collective and then on Rough Trade Record in 2015. The re-issue features new artwork based on the original colour blocks plus ‘The Cha Cha Cha‘ has now been remastered alongside the rest of the tracks and is ready for the dancefloor once again.
Fan fave (and live setlist staple) featured on the collection is an eight-minute cover of post-dubstep mastermind Blawan’s absurdist banger and demented earworm ‘Why They Hide Their Bodies Under My Garage’ which is simply unlike anything you’ve ever heard before or since.
Profits from the Early Years records and the Early Years T-shirt sold on the bands webstore will go to UNICEF to help provide humanitarian aid to Gaza. Please see here for full details.
Gilla Band have also confirmed an Irish tour in October, playing venues that they love, places they haven’t been to in 10 years, and some places they’ve never played before. For these shows the band will be playing a mix of older material as well as some new stuff they have been working on. Tickets on sale this Friday at 10am
