Three-piece alternative band Escape Goats formed in Glasgow (just north of London…) release new single ‘Rompecabezas’. The trio, comprising bass player Andrew Shepherd, guitarist and singer John McLinden (formerly MEMES) & drummer and singer Adam Parker (formerly Make Sparks), recorded the single at Venice of the North Studio in Glasgow with bass player Shep at the helm. It was mastered by Robin Sutherland Mastering in Finland. The song title means “puzzle” in Spanish and it’s a three-minute blast, capturing the feeling of being pulled in conflicting directions, playing on double meanings and pseudowords. Scuzzy guitars with an unforgettable hook on the chorus, it also showcases the slightly off-kilter edginess of Escape Goats. The pounding drums hold it all together, although towards the end the tempo increases, the overall feeling of vexation reaching a crescendo. The striking single artwork was created by Dundonian fine artist Tom Carlile.
The band share the following on ‘Rompecabezas’:
“Charles Bukowski said that isolation is the gift, but as a German he should have known that it’s actually poison.”
Escape Goats opened for Glasgow legends Sluts of Trust on their return to the stage in July.
They also announce their self-produced/funded debut album which is due for release late 2025.
