Glasgow’s Escape Goats release their fifth single ‘Andrew Lincoln‘. The band share the following on the track:
“The song explores the internal struggle of wanting to meet impossible standards, only to find yourself spiralling into self-doubt and excess.”

It’s a two minute roller-coaster of a song, starting calmly enough but quickly winding up to a furious pace reflecting the chaos that can result from over-thinking: “I’ve been thinking whilst I’ve been drinking.” The list of goals to achieve is frankly hilarious, including climbing Everest, writing a book, learning Japanese, flying a helicopter and inter-railing around the Eastern Bloc. In other words it’s impossible to do it all.

“First of all I’ve got things to see.
I’ll make a start when I’ve finished my tea.”

All of this is wrapped in an edgy punky vibe. The off kilter midsection gets increasing frenetic as it heads to the outro. Too many things to do and not enough time. The three-piece alternative/punk band is made up of John McLinden (Guitar/Vocals – formerly in MEMES) Adam Parker (Drums/Vocals – formerly in Make Sparks) and Andrew Shepherd (Bass – Co-owner of Venice of the North Recording Studio in Glasgow) and together they create music with a message but always with a massive dollop of humour and a rough and ready punk aesthetic.
