Scottish electronic/post-punk newcomers DOSS share new single ‘HOWDYPARTNER’, out today via Alcopop! Records (Art Brut, Ditz, The Wytches). Marking their first new material since the release of their acclaimed, self-titled debut EP DOSS a few months ago, ‘HOWDYPARTNER’ once more showcases their abrasive sound and biting Glaswegian to perfection. Blending sharp social commentary with distorted bass, fractured electronics, and heavy rhythms, the relentless duo have already been given a seal of approval from the likes of NME, The Line Of Best Fit, So Young and Rough Trade, whilst early radio airplay has arrived across both BBC 6 Music and KEXP.
With an explosive live reputation earning them recent shows alongside contemporaries Deadletter and Fat Dog, the band have also ticked off a sold-out hometown headliner at Glasgow’s The Art School Venue and spent a busy summer on the festival circuit. Two headline shows are lined up this winter in Glasgow and Edinburgh for their raucous home audience, which is sure to cap off an impressive debut year for the two-piece in style.
Speaking ahead of their release, DOSS added:
“‘HOWDYPARTNER’ is an observation on the absurdity of existence, influenced by throwism – being born without consent and expected to make sense of chaos. Power, domination, and status are meaningless in the end. In accepting that nothing matters, freedom appears. The ride keeps moving.”
