Comfort Girl, the four-piece alternative rock band from Leith, Edinburgh have released their new single ‘Junket’.

“When all is said and done, / and they’re finished dropping bombs / they’ll look you in the eye and say, / I’m sorry for your loss.”

‘Junket’ is a blistering anthem of inherited violence, systemic fatigue, and desperate resistance. Comfort Girl fuses emo lyricism with the urgency of post-hardcore, shoegaze textures, and a throat-tight chorus that’s as bitter as it is cathartic. Lyrically dystopian but emotionally intimate, the song tears through themes of generational disillusionment, militarism, and emotional repression with both fury and finesse. Written by frontperson Andy Baillie during a time of global unrest and personal reckoning, ‘Junket’ is the lead track from the band’s upcoming debut EP.

‘Junket’ follows debut single ‘Cool! Sexy! Drunk!’.

“I see you giggling / You’re so fucking sickening / I don’t want a hug / Stop fucking touching me”

Inspired by a 2000s NME cover that described Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O as “Cool! Sexy! Drunk!”, Comfort Girl’s debut single flips the phrase into a feminist snarl. Confrontational and cathartic, ‘Cool! Sexy! Drunk!’ is a middle finger to the indie sleaze era’s male gaze and the cultural baggage it left behind. With breakneck delivery and guttural honesty, the song skewers creeps, softboys, and performative pseudo-feminists. It’s about the rage of being seen but not respected, of being aestheticized but not heard.

Fronted by the commanding presence of Andy Baillie, Comfort Girl blend cathartic lyrics with immersive soundscapes and sharp melodic hooks. Guitarist Liam Stevens brings a dynamic range, from shimmering clean riffs to walls of distortion, while Ems Baxter (bass) and Lewis Gray (drums) anchor each track with a thunderous, intricate rhythm section.
