Belfast post-punk/electronic specialists Chalk share new single ‘Afraid’, the second track from the band’s forthcoming Conditions III EP, set for release 21 February via Nice Swan Records. With an extensive UK/IRE/EU tour lined up this spring, following an acclaimed tour support run with IDLES and Sprints, Chalk’s evolution continues to gather pace. Fusing elements of heavy guitar music, electronica and breakbeat into a euphoric finished project, and recorded against the backdrop of bleak landscapes and Nordic vistas in remote northern Iceland, the group’s forthcoming Conditions III EP ends the trilogy that launched their career.

The single is produced by Chris Ryan (NewDad, Enola Gay, Just Mustard) and Chalk vocalist Ross Cullen. Speaking ahead of their latest EP reveal, Chalk explained:
“‘Afraid’ captures the raw fear and exhilaration of stepping into the unknown, a reminder that growth only happens when you leave your comfort zone. It’s a reflection on the strength it takes to move forward.”
