Irish four-piece Blue Slate have released their debut EP, This Is How I Sleep At Night. Blending New Wave wistfulness with shoegaze-inspired textures, the band enters the modern rock landscape with raw, jangly guitars and piercing lyricism Blue Slate are already making waves having performed across Europe, including in London, Paris, and Rotterdam’s iconic Left of the Dial festival. The band cemented their reputation with a sold-out headline show at The Workman’s Club upon returning from London.
The band have released the title track and final single from the EP, This Is How I Sleep At Night, an alternative rock anthem that combines reverb-soaked guitars, feedback-laden soundscapes, and the melodic allure of DIIV with the raw, rebellious energy of The Velvet Underground. Lyrically inspired by the boldness of Manic Street Preachers, the song channels indie rock’s introspective charm while venturing into heavier grunge territory, making it both anthemic and aggressive.
All vinyl copies of This Is How I Sleep At Night are already sold out, and a European tour is set for 2025, such is the growing interest in the band. For those slow off the mark lets hope there is a further pressing. Now it is released there will certainly be an increase in demand for a physical copy of this striking debut.
