London/Berlin outfit BLOKE release new single ‘Uptight’ ahead of their EP Living Without Expectations. Led the enigmatic German artist Jakob Buraczewski, they continue to push the boundaries of what is possible in the realms of psychedelic rock and Krautrock-inspired soundscapes. ‘Uptight’ emerges as an exploration of societal pressure and personal ambition. The band continue to peel back the layers of contemporary existential anxiety, this time dissecting the relentless drive that transforms human connections into transactional battlegrounds.

‘Uptight’ confronts the brutal landscape of modern aspiration, where individual dreams become weapons of emotional warfare. The track lays bare the psychological fault lines that emerge when personal goals transform from inspiration to obsession, revealing how the pursuit of success can fracture relationships and isolate individuals in their own desperate narratives. Musically, the song’s composition mirrors its thematic depth, with lead singer Jacob Buraczewski adding:

These emotions are responding with such immediacy, mirroring the upbeat song structure. The escalating guitar distortion and tempo resonate deeply, creating a truly empathetic musical experience in this track”

Buraczewski’s own journey has been a crucial factor in shaping the distinct identity of BLOKE. Hailing from Germany but immersing himself in the vibrant underground music scene of London for five years, the artist has synthesised a diverse array of influences, from the raw energy of garage punk to the mind-bending explorations of Krautrock and psychedelia. Their debut EP Living Without Expectations will be released 14 February via Tonzonen Records/Cargo Records.
