And Back Again is the second EP from Glasgow-based rock group Insider Trading. It lingers on themes of home and displacement, applying a deeply personal analysis to systems of desire, power, and nationalism.
Inspired by the cacophonous post-rock of the 90s, opener ‘The Best Band in Scotland’ uses a non-traditional structure, floating between contemplative moments of introspection and massive instrumental walls of noise. The track is an exploration of desire and hubris, where a protagonist’s thin arrogance gives way, collapsing into a solipsistic nihilism. ‘The Best Band in Scotland’ asks what it means to want to be “the best”, and why such a thing would be desirable, regardless if it was even possible.
‘Porcelain’ is the band’s most traditionally structured track to date, though it still comes in at over six minutes long. It hinges on the dual vocal performances to reach for past lovers, outlining a tale of excess, class-anger, and queer desire.
‘To the Moon’ follows, an introspective, consciously layered, and emotionally powerful instrumental.
The EP finishes with ‘Losing My Language’, a Scottish-folk inspired tune that acts as both a denunciation of imperial aggression, while considering Scotland’s place as a nation both a victim and perpetrator of colonial violence. The ending hook merges the personal and political, asking what it means to be Scottish in the past, and what it could mean in the future.
Off the back of their EP release, Insider Trading will tour extensively in the UK and abroad. They will play international showcase festivals in The Netherlands, France, and the USA showcasing their ambition to solidify themselves as a world-class live act . Their UK headline tour will see them return to cities like London, Manchester, and Leeds while visiting Bristol, Sheffield, Birmingham, and more for the first time.
Insider Trading are a 4 piece rock group based in Glasgow, Scotland. They have garnered a reputation for their loud, raucous live sets and their unique blend of complex, multilayered post-rock arrangements and wandering song structures with post-punk choruses and introspective lyricism. The band, consisting of Cameron Bilsland (vocals and rhythm guitar), Eve Gibbons (vocals and bass guitar), Sam Jolley (lead guitar), and Tom Wood (drums), released their debut EP in 2025 From Leith to New York, touring across Scotland and England in its wake. That project featured a ten minute post-punk epic, an experimental diptych ballad, a psychedelic interlude, and a riotous post-rock conclusion. Second EP And Back Again builds on their sound. It continues to experiment with structure and instrumental layering, while including their first ever sing-along choruses. This EP retains the same commitment to sonic experimentation that the members have held since the band’s inception.
