Weston-Super-Mare’s Groove Village festival returned for its second edition on Saturday 26 September.
This return was bigger, bolder and brighter than 2025, bursting at the seams with music across multiple venues.
46 artists performed across 9 venues, all curated by Weston resident Andy Wilkinson and his team of volunteers comprising family and friends. He is building something very special within his own music community.
The festival comprised emerging artists such as The Koppers, Gnatcatcher, Papa Jupe’s TC, Cheap Suits and Bunny Boilers, alongside more established artists including Chroma, Y, Peer Pleasure, YAANG and Knives. Returning bands M/X, Lacross Club, The Dirt also played alongside Carrot Thieves, Lonely Tourist, Maisie Waterhouse, Jodie Langford and many many more.
In addition Andy was rewarded for his early support of Getdown Services who repayed this loyalty by playing a set in the 100 capacity Loves. For those keen to start the weekend early there was also a pre-party on the Friday featuring The Scribes and Snayx.
The relaxed vibe was aided by venues literally steps from each other, artists and festival attendees all hanging out together. Your gig tribe is so important and this reviewer felt truly blessed to share such a joyful day with gig going mates, watching bands already loved but perhaps more importantly appreciating the opportunity to make new discoveries.
Andy did not stop at music curation. This year he expanded his marketing with banners in Weston, the provision of Groove Villages’ own beer in conjunction with local brewer Fat Head Brewery, expanded merchandise including socks with both seagulls and ice-cream cones, and oversized paper mache ice lollies in venues. Those of a certain vintage will not be surprised to learn that the Fab was particularly popular!
For those unfamiliar with the geography of Weston, it is located in the South-West of England, easily accessible from Bristol.
