ELLiS·D is a relentless, insatiable performer. Not only with his solo project, but as the drummer for Fat Dog, his critically acclaimed live shows are drenched in sweat and powered by rocket-fuel; stage dives, lung-bursting vocals and psychedelic freak-outs abound with the gung-ho whiplash combo of glam-rock extravagance and gothic intensity.
Documenting this experience for the first time, ELLiS·D revisits last year’s lauded Spill EP with an urgent live recording captured at a sold-out show at Rotterdam’s, V11 in April 2026. Released in collaboration with boutique label Crafting Room Recordings (SoftTop, Maximilian) and showcase festival Left of The Dial, (with an exclusive edition available via Resident music), Spill EP (live) is proof, if any were needed, that ELLiS·D is a creature born for the live arena.
Following the release of signature track ‘Humdrum’ last month, leading the EP release is the raucous live version of the EP’s title track ‘Spill’ packed with all the fizzing improvisations and freak-outs that define his ecstatic performances. Speaking more about the track, Ellis says:
“’Spill’ was the last track from the EP to be written, but soon became the basis around which the aesthetic of the EP was built. The instrumental ending went through a fair few iterations before I finally landed on this one, which we definitely have a lot of fun with live.”
Speaking about the EP as a whole, Ellis adds:
“As our first sold-out headline show outside of the UK, it felt like a real milestone for myself and the band. We wanted to capture the amazing connection we’ve felt playing to European audiences, with nowhere better to do it than the basement of a boat in Rotterdam. Each of the tracks on the EP have been staples of our live set for a long time but switching into the mindset of performing and recording for the EP gave us a fair few jitters pre-show. Once we crashed into ‘Chasing The Blue’ that all melted away.”
