Scottish electronic/post-punk newcomers DOSS release their self-titled DOSS EP, out today via Alcopop! Records (Art Brut, Ditz, The Wytches). Previewed with lead singles ‘BIGFELLAFUNK’, ‘SUPERSECRETAGENT’ and new focus track ‘YOUGOTSTYLE’, the EP showcases their abrasive sound and biting Glaswegian to perfection. Blending sharp social commentary with distorted bass, fractured electronics, and heavy rhythms, the rising duo have already been given a seal of approval from the likes of NME, The Line Of Best Fit, So Young and Rough Trade, whilst early radio support has arrived across both BBC Radio 6Music and KEXP.
With an explosive live reputation earning them recent shows alongside contemporaries such as Deadletter and Fat Dog, the band have also recently ticked off a sold-out hometown headliner at Glasgow’s The Art School Venue, and will be gigging throughout the summer months with shows across the UK and Europe to celebrate the arrival of their EP. DOSS is Sorley Mackay (vocals / guitar), Chilton Fawcett (drums), and detailing the EP Sorley revealed:
“Chilly and I went into the studio in January, we came out five days later with a masterpiece four songs of pure testosterone. Na jokes, in all honesty we are dead proud with how this wee raggamuffin turned out. It feels like shedding skin and a new more musically experimental direction for the band. We feel like our tour last year in the USA heavily influenced this kinda forboding Americana throughout the work. It’s at times groovy, at times heavy, and has opened the gates for a new genre for us deranged funk punk. The key theme of the EP in reflection is the murky undercurrent of white picket, joyful society, ze skeletons in everyone’s closet so to speak, super existential. Excited for everyone to hear it. The only way is up, keep on truckin’!”
