Dublin to London songwriter and producer Zak Coghlan shares new single ‘Lead Balloon’, a raw, atmospheric anthem that marks the beginning of a bold new chapter introducing his voice to a broader audience with both tenderness and power. Zak draws from indie and alt-rock influences across Ireland and the UK, shaping a sound built on driving drums, textured guitars and an emotive vocal that carries the track forward. The single follows his debut release ‘Composure’, which dropped in March and introduced this new chapter to his audience. Where that track set the tone, ‘Lead Balloon’ digs deeper. The track was recorded in Dublin, produced by Keelan O’Reilly of Dublin based band Post Party, mixed by Philip Magee and mastered by Simon Francis.
Before stepping out under his own name, Zak fronted Irish alt-rock band Sunburn. His solo work reflects a shift in approach as much as sound, acting as a move toward full creative control and a more personal way of writing and producing. Zak continues to bring his music to live audiences across Ireland and the UK, where the songs take on a different energy in the room.
