NEWS: New single ‘Hanging Onto You’ by punksters Grade 2

British punk band Grade 2 return with their new single, ‘Hanging Onto You’, a track that blends raw punk energy with heartfelt vulnerability. The track marks an exciting evolution in the band’s sound, blending their signature raw energy with a fresh, vulnerable honesty.  It’s inspired by two different sources: the heartfelt, emotional intensity of traditional Latin and Mexican love songs, and the classic punk love songs of bands like The Buzzcocks, The Rifles, and The Ramones. The result is a song that feels both familiar and new, offering a look into a new creative chapter for the band.

“We wanted to create a song that is honest and vulnerable, something that everyone can relate to,” the band states. “The song portrays a position I’m sure we’ve all been in—not being completely perfect but always willing to give your all.”

The single was self-produced by the band alongside Dan Lucas at The Joplin House, with mixing by Riff Audio and mastering by Jason Livermore at The Blasting Room. It also features Kevin Bivona (The Interrupters) on Hammond, synth, and piano.  The track arrives with a video directed by Nick Suchak of Ramshackle Productions, and captures the raw, unfiltered energy of a live Grade 2 show. Already tested in recent set-lists, ‘Hanging Onto You’ has quickly cemented itself as a natural fit among their fan-favourite material.
