Oedipus And The Mama’s Boys are a seven-piece sonic force from Edinburgh, blending raw post-punk energy with experimental noise rock textures. Armed with guitar, bass, saxophone, violin, drums, and synth, their sound is chaotic and cathartic, drawing influence from genre heavyweights like IDLES, Gilla Band, Squid, The Murder Capital, and Gurriers.
The band share the following on their debut single:
“In this raw and atmospheric track, we explore the tension between desire and detachment, intimacy and performance. “You Are a Bleed That Never Stops” is an unravelling of identity, longing, and the roles we play – both chosen and imposed. The lyrics aim to evoke a sense of emotional entanglement that’s both beautiful and bruising. The song draws listeners into a world of deception, and truth bleeds through the cracks. It’s a dance between vulnerability and control, where connection is shadowed by separation. Inspired by a moment of revelation – “what Bill showed me on that dark grey day” – the track captures the clarity that comes with upheaval. It’s a mood, a memory, a mirror.”
Oedipus and the Mama’s Boys support Joe and the Shitboys at Glasgow’s Hug and Pint on 4 December.
